 Tilapia and catfish production at KIFI.

2011
- Collect 500 tilapia brooders: O. Andersonii and T. rendalii
- 50000 fingerlings: 25g-50g in size
- 100000 fries
3600 fingerlings sex reversal in size 40 g/Ind.
100 catch fish brooders.

 2012
- 845 T. rendalii brooders
- 360 T. macrochus brooders
- 470 O. andersonii brooders
 - 300 three spot  broodstocks  were transported to Onavivi  IAC
 A total of 500000 tilapia fingerlings of 0.1 g to 50 g/ Ind. were produced and transported to Grootteinfonten FF, Mpungu, Karovo fish farm.

Throughout 8 times’ spawning we obtained 8.481 million eggs with fertilisation rate of 64.25%; 1050000 million fries were harvested at low average survival rate: 22.36%.
Jun 2013
+ 633 broodstocks O. andersoni  in size 450 g/1 Ind. at K2
+ 149 broodstocks Green Head in size 490 g/1 Ind. at K5
+ 254 broodstocks T. rendalli in size 300 g/Ind. at K6.

- 4650 fingerling sex reversal tilapia in size 0.5 g/Ind. was produced at KIFI,
- 350,000 tilapia fingerlings in size 0.5 g – 50 g was produced 
- 2.1 million eggs of catfish was producedTotal 258977 Fries were harvested with survival rate average 25.37%.
- 3000 catfish’s fingerlings in size 7-10 g/Ind. was transported to Karovo FF

-655 626 tilapia fry produced.
-373 503 fingerlings went to fish farmers, Onavivi IAC and Epalela fish farm.
-893 987 catfish larvae were produced, with a survival rate of less than 10%.
80 459 fingerlings were distributed to fish farmer, and some were stocked in Onavivi IAC and Epalela fish farm.
2009
-875 142 tilapia fry produced.
-529 023 fingerlings went to fish farmers, Onavivi IAC and Epalela fish farm.
-1 592 236 catfish fry produced, with a survival rate of 3%
- 48 392 went to fish farmers, Onavivi IAC and Epalela fish farm.
2010
- A total of  645 101 tilapia fry produced.
-482 442 fingerlings went to fish farmers, Onavivi IAC and Epalela fish farm.

-1 650 000 catfish fry produced, with a survival rate of 6%.
-99 570  went to fish farmers and Epalela fish farm.
2011
- A total of  787 040  tilapia fry produced
-334 333 fingerlings went to fish farmers, Onavivi IAC and Epalela fish farm.
- 3 562 496 catfish fry produced, with a survival rate of 2%
-68702 went to fish farmers, Onavivi IAC and Epalela fish farm.
2012
A total of  655 148 tilapia fry/fingerlings of 0.1 g to 6 g/ Ind. Produced.
-370 088 fingerlings with an average weight between 3.0-36 grams went for distribution, stocked in Onavivi IAC and Epalela fish farm.
- 977 374 million larvae were produced with a survival rate of 7%
-3671 fingerlings- stocked in Onavivi IAC production ponds.
-52772 fingerlings –stocked at Epalela Fish Farm.
-14 714 fingerlings - distributed to Fish Farmers.

2013
- 461 273 fingerlings  with an  average weight between 0.5 g – 6.0g were produced
- 325 214 fingerlings with an average weight between 5-45 grams went for distribution, stocked in Onavivi IAC and Epalela fish farm

-1 438 233 million larvae- with a survival rate of  8%
-110 632 fingerlings went for distribution and Epalela fish farm
NB: Catfish  survival rate is calculated from the number of larvae produced against the number of fingerlings distributed to the farmers plus those stocked at Epalela fish farm and Onavivi IAC
