|Mr.Francois Jacobs, new Senior Fisheries Biologist at KIFI in charge of Inland Fisheries Research|
Francois was born in Otjiwarongo where he was schooled, after which his tertiary education was completed at the North West University and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He has participated in numerous research and consulting; aquatic ecosystem management and conservation studies as a specialist scientist. In particular, he has independently managed and completed various components of some of these studies on behalf of Rivers of Life Aquatic Health Services (2007-2011) the North West University (2011-2013) and the Institute of Natural Resources and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (2013-2015). Francois has developed a research profile as an aquatic ecologist specialising in aquatic bio-monitoring and environmental impact assessments. As a specialist ichthyologist, he has experience applying various fish community metric measures to evaluate ecosystem health and has experience using fish as indicators of ecosystem health as a behavioural ecologist. During his career he has developed new methods for monitoring and managing aquatic ecosystems, he has also made a significant contribution, as he is the first to document on film, Hydrocynus vittatus (tigerfish) predating on Hirundo rustica (barn swallows) in full flight. This unique discovery received much attention by Nature, BBC, National Geographic, Animal Planet and local institutions. Recently appointed as a senior fisheries biologist at KIFI while being enrolled as a Ph.D. candidate at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, he is looking forward to contribute towards his countries scientific outputs.

Deon Cain Tiyeho from Linyanti village in the Zambezi Region studied at the University of Namibia where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Fisheries and Aquatic sciences in 2014. Upon completion of his studies he worked for the Ministry of Education as Temporary Teacher at Sauzuo Combined School before being appointed as a Fisheries Biologist by the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine resources at Kamutjonga Inland Fisheries Institute.

Research at KIFI
Josua Ndeutapo Ndeliimona, from Okahao, Omusati region, He holds a B. Sc. Honours Degree in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (UNAM) and a National Diploma in Natural Resource Management (Polytechnic of Namibia). He assumed duty at KIFI as a Fisheries Biologist in the Freshwater Aquaculture Research section.
