Crockango Fishing Competition; 1-4 May 2013

The Captains meeting for the Crockango Fishing Competition took place Tuesday (30 April 2013) evening around 20:00 pm at the Crokango camp (about 50 km east of Rundu) in the Mashare Constituency close to Mupapama/Takwasa alongside the Kavango river in Namibia

The rules for the competition was clearly laid out by Mr. Duppie du Plessis and Mouro Rosa (chairperson: Crockango Angling Club). Mr. Renier Burger, Deputy Director for Inland Fisheries introduced the staff (Inspectorate and Research) from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources. He requested all anglers to be observant of Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome (EUS) and to please bring in any fish cuaght with this disorder for sampling and diagnistic purposes. Inland Fisheries would like to establish the true scope of this disease in the Kavango river. He also reminded anglers to be on the lookout for any invasive species.  Honourable B. The competition will come to an end on Saturday, 4 May 2013....The final competition results and feedback from Inland Fisheries regarding any relevant observations during this period will be posted next week (9 May 2013).
